Telephonic conversation between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation yesterday with US President Joe Biden. 

The Prime Minister warmly congratulated President Biden, conveyed best wishes for his tenure, and looked forward to working closely with him to further elevate the India-US Strategic Partnership.  

The leaders discussed at length regional developments and the wider geo-political context. They noted that the India-US partnership is firmly anchored in a shared commitment to democratic values and common strategic interests. They reiterated the importance of working with like-minded countries to ensure a rules-based international order and a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Prime Minister and President Biden affirmed the importance of addressing the challenge of global climate change. Prime Minister welcomed President Biden's decision to re-commit to the Paris Agreement and highlighted the ambitious targets India has set for itself in the area of renewable energy. Prime Minister welcomed President Biden’s initiative to organise the Climate Leaders Summit in April this year and looked forward to participating in the same.  

Prime Minister took the opportunity to invite President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden to visit India at their earliest convenience.

Joe Biden looks forward to continuation of successful relationship between India and United States

 

US President Joe Biden looks forward to a continuation of the long, bipartisan and successful relationship between leaders in India and the United States, which he respects and values, stated Jen Psaki, Press Secretary to the US President.

Ms Psaki made the above statement when asked about Mr Biden's vision on the relationship between India and US - the world's largest and the world's oldest democracy, during a press briefing.

Ms Psaki said that Mr Biden, who has visited India many times, "selected the first Indian American to serve as President or Vice President, which is certainly a historic moment for all of us in this country, but a further cementing of the importance of our relationship."

PM Modi congratulates Joe Biden, Kamala Harris

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Mr Joe Biden on the assumption of office as President of the United States of America. 

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said,

"My warmest congratulations to @JoeBiden on his assumption of office as President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen India-US strategic partnership.

My best wishes for a successful term in leading USA as we stand united and resilient in addressing common challenges and advancing global peace and security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Ms Kamala Harris on the assumption of office as Vice President of the United States of America.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said "Congratulations to @KamalaHarris on being sworn-in as @VP. It is a historic occasion. Looking forward to interacting with her to make India-USA relations more robust. The India-USA partnership is beneficial for our planet."

PM Modi speaks to Joe Biden over phone

Prime minister Narendra Modi yesterday spoke to US President-elect Joe Biden on phone and congratulated him. 

He reiterated India's firm commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed about the two countries' shared priorities and concerns such as COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific Region. 

The pm in a tweet said, "I also conveyed warm congratulations for VP-elect KamalaHarris. Her success is a matter of great pride and inspiration for members of the vibrant Indian-American community, who are a tremendous source of strength for Indo-US relations."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. 

Posting a congratulatory tweet to Mr Biden today, PM Modi said,
