MHA extends Guidelines for Surveillance, Containment and Caution related to COVID19


The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an Order today to extend the existing guidelines for Surveillance, Containment and Caution related to COVID-19 to remain in force upto 31st March 2021, an official release issued by the MHA said.

States/Union Territories have also been advised to speed up the vaccination of the target population so as to break the chain of transmission and overcome the pandemic.

Accordingly, Containment Zones continue to be demarcated carefully; prescribed containment measures strictly followed within these zones; COVID-appropriate behaviour promoted and strictly enforced, and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prescribed in respect of various permitted activities followed scrupulously, the release informed.

The Ministry said that the focussed approach on surveillance, containment and strict observance of the guidelines/ SOPs, as envisaged in the Guidelines issued on 27th January 2021; need to be enforced strictly by States and Union Territories.

MHA re-classifies FRRO circles


Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reclassified the districts under each Foreigners Regional Register Office (FRRO) circle, to help Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders staying in different parts of the country and facilitate the stay in India for foreign travellers. 

The districts of Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh which were under Lucknow have come under FRRO, Delhi. These measures are expected to greatly facilitate foreign nationals residing in the National Capital Region (NCR) for availing visa and OCI related services.

Jurisdiction of the three FRROs in Kerala for the purpose of receiving and processing of applications for various services in respect of OCI cardholders has been reclassified as follows,

  1. Kannur, Kasargod, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts of Kerala will be under the jurisdiction of FRRO Kozhikode.
  2. Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Palakkad and Thrissur and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep will be under the jurisdiction of FRRO Kochi
  3. Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram will be under the jurisdiction of FRRO, Thiruvananthapuram

India will play a leading role in the future global political framework in terms of economy and Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai has said.

Mr Rai made the remark while presiding over the valedictory programme of the International Science and Technology Conference organized by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and Department of Science & Technology (DST), on 27th of August 2020 through Video Conferencing.

Expressing faith in the science and technology talent in our country, Mr Rai said that their motive should be to reach to the last mile connectivity and every needy person in our motherland.
