Pinarayi Vijayan tests positive for COVID


Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has tested positive for COVID-19.

A Twitter message posted now by Kerala CMO said, "The Chief Minister has tested Covid +ve. He will be treated at the Government Medical College, Kozhikkode. Those who have been in contact with him recently should go into self observation."

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan announces 100-day long action plan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today declared a 100-day long action plan for the progress of the state which is battling with COVID-19. Addressing a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram, the CM announced that his government will complete 100 projects within 100 days.

He also informed that the food kit distribution which stared during Onam season will continue for the next four months. Ration shops will distribute these food kits to the cardholders. As many as 88 lakh food kits have been already distributed during Onam season, he said.

The CM also said that the state government has requested the centre to extend the moratorium period and to relax the interest rates. He asserted that the government not only announces the action plan as an Onam gift to the public, but also promises that each plan will be completed without failure.

Kerala govt allows sale of flowers from other states during Onam festival

The Kerala government has permitted for flowers to be brought to the state from other states during the Onam festival season. 

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has stated that traders from other states can also sell the flowers while following the necessary COVID-19 protocols. The baskets and other containers, which are used for transportation of the flowers, need to be destroyed after use. Social distancing needs to be followed during the sale of flowers and cashless transaction needs to be encouraged.

The government has earlier banned bringing flowers from other states due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

No-confidence motion against Pinarayi Vijayan govt defeated in Kerala

The no-confidence motion moved against the Pinarayi Vijayan led government by Congress MLA V D Satheesan was defeated 87-40 in the Kerala Assembly today. The motion was moved over the reported connection of the Kerala Gold Smuggling Case with the office of the Chief Minister. 

The Chief Minister spoke for 3 hours and 45 minutes while replying to the motion. Two members of the Kerala Congress (M) did not take part in the debate and the voting.

Kerala CM moves resolution urging Centre to reconsider leasing out of Trivandrum Airport through PPP

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today moved a resolution in the one-day State Assembly session, urging the Central government to reconsider its decision of leasing out Trivandrum International Airport through Public-Private Partnership.

Union Cabinet had recently approved the proposal of the Airports Authority of India for leasing out of Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvanathapuram airports (AAI) through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the next 50 years.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who went into self-quarantine earlier today, has tested negative for COVID-19.

The Chief Minister went into self-quarantine after he came in the primary contact list of Malappuram district collector K Gopalakrishnan who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan went into self-quarantine today after he came in the primary contact list of Malappuram district collector K Gopalakrishnan who has tested positive for COVID-19. 

Mr Gopalakrishnan had coordinated the search and rescue operations during the Kozhikode Plane Crash incident on August 7th.

Kerala CM assures home, education expenses for Idukki landslide victims

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today assured those who have lost their residential quarters during the Idukki landslide incident that the state government would identify an alternate land and build homes for them. He also said that the government will bear the education expenses of the students who have survived.

The announcement was made after Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and the Chief Minister visited the landslide spot in Rajamalai, even as the death toll in the tragedy has risen to 55.

Kerala CM confirms community transmission of COVID-19 in two coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan today stated that community transmission of COVID-19 has occurred in two coastal areas, Poonthura and Pulluvila, of Thiruvananthapuram. He said that in Poonthura, 26 out of 50 people, who were randomly tested were found to be positive, while in Pulluvila, 28 out of the 57 people tested were found to be positive.

Kerala IAS officer M Sivasankar suspended in connection with gold smuggling case

The Kerala government today suspended senior IAS officer M Sivasankar, who was the principal secretary to the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijaya.

The decision was taken by the Kerala government keeping in light findings of a high-level panel headed by Chief Secretary D Vishwas Mehta. This panel probed involvement of Sivasankar in the gold smuggling racket which has recently come to fore and submitted its report to the state government today which led to the IAS officer suspension.

Earlier, Sivasankar was removed from his post of the principal secretary by the Kerala CM after a preliminary inquiry revealed that he had links to one of the accused Swapna Suresh.
